Roger Morelló Ros (Cello)
The Catalan cellist Roger Morelló Ros (b. 1993) combines an intense concert activity with a strong dedication to pedagogy. He is Professor at the High Performance Music School of Valencia (ESMAR), serves as assistant to Maria Kliegel at the Euro Arts Academy, is a Pre-College teacher at the Junge Streicherakademie Mainz (in cooperation with the Mainz University of Music), and is regularly invited to give masterclasses at renowned institutions and festivals such as Berkeley (USA), Internationaler Meisterkurs Heidelberg (Germany), the Ibiza Conservatory (Spain), and the Andantino Cello Festival (China), among many others.
He studied with David Blay at the Vila-seca Conservatory and with Damián Martínez at Musikene, before moving to Germany to pursue a Master’s degree and a Soloist Diploma with Maria Kliegel at the University of Music in Cologne, completing his studies with highest honors. In addition, he has refined his skills through masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Steven Isserlis, Frans Helmerson, Peter Bruns, Troels Svane, Raphaël Pidoux, Leonid Gorokhov, and Claudio Bohorquez.
Winner of more than 30 scholarships and competition prizes, his solo activity has led him to collaborate with numerous orchestras — most notably the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra — and to perform in major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Suzhou Bay Grand Theatre in China, the Palau de la Música Catalana, and Casa Milà, where he was Artist in Residence. He has also been invited to leading festivals including the Verbier Festival, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Rheinhessen Musikfestival (Artist in Residence), Life Victoria Barcelona (Sant Pau – UNESCO), and the Schumannfest Düsseldorf, among many others.
He has released several internationally acclaimed albums: The Voice of Casals (IBS Classical – Südwestrundfunk), Schumann goes Tango (Austrian Gramophone), and Founders Trio (Hänssler Classic), which premiered in Florida. A new album as a soloist with the Babylon Orchestra Berlin will be released soon.
In his teaching, he places special emphasis on a conscious and well-founded technique that allows for precise and free playing. His focus lies on the development of a warm, personal sound and the connection between body, mind, and emotion to achieve the best possible interpretation.
Der katalanische Cellist Roger Morelló Ros (geb. 1993) widmet sich neben seiner Konzerttätigkeit mit großer Leidenschaft der Pädagogik. Er ist Professor an der ESMAR (Hochschule für Musik in Valencia), Assistent von Maria Kliegel an der Euro Arts Academy sowie Pre-College-Dozent an der Jungen Streicherakademie Mainz (in Kooperation mit der Mainzer Musikhochschule) und gibt regelmäßig Meisterkurse an renommierten Institutionen und Festivals (Berkeley – USA, Musikakademie Schloss Weikersheim, Internationaler Meisterkurs Heidelberg, Conservatorio de Ibiza – Spanien, Andantino Cello Festival – China u.a.).
Er studierte zunächst in seiner Heimat bei David Blay und Damián Martínez, bevor er – unterstützt durch ein Deutschlandstipendium sowie die Humboldt- und die Güell-Stiftung – seine Ausbildung bei Maria Kliegel an der Kölner Musikhochschule fortsetzte, wo er seinen Master und sein Konzertexamen mit Auszeichnung abschloss.
Er besuchte Meisterkurse u. a. bei Frans Helmerson, Peter Bruns, Troels Svane, Raphaël Pidoux, Leonid Gorokhov, Claudio Bohorquez und Steven Isserlis.
Als Preisträger von über 30 Wettbewerben und Stipendien trat er als Solist u. a. mit dem Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra auf und konzertierte in bedeutenden Sälen wie der Berliner Philharmonie, dem Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona oder dem Suzhou Bay Grand Theatre in China. Seine Konzerttätigkeit führte ihn zu renommierten Festivals wie dem Verbier Festival, dem Klavier-Festival Ruhr, dem Life Victoria Barcelona (Sant Pau – UNESCO) und dem Schumannfest Düsseldorf.

Im Unterricht legt er besonderen Wert auf eine bewusste und fundierte Technik, die präzises und freies Spiel ermöglicht, sowie auf die Entwicklung eines warmen und persönlichen Klangs und auf die Verbindung von Körper, Geist und Emotion, um die bestmögliche Interpretation zu erreichen.
