Marta Potulska (Viola)
Marta Potulska is a distinguished Polish violist, chamber musician, and educator whose artistry bridges classical tradition and contemporary expression. Based in Vienna, she has established herself as a versatile performer on international stages, celebrated for her expressive depth and collaborative sensitivity.
Her musical journey began in Lodz, Poland, where she completed her early training at the Henryk Wieniawski Music School. She continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz under Prof. Matthias Maurer, former solo violist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and later refined her chamber music expertise at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW).
Between 2019 and 2025, Potulska was a member of the Paganini Ensemble Vienna, with whom she recorded the complete 15 quartets for guitar and strings by Niccolo Paganini. Her performance career has brought her to some of Europe’s most prestigious venues, including the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus Vienna, as well as to renowned stages such as the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid.
A sought-after chamber musician, she has appeared at leading festivals including the Salzburg Festival, Styriarte, and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, performing across Europe, North America, and Asia. Her artistic collaborations include appearances with eminent musicians such as Elisabeth Leonskaya and Vladimir
Mendelssohn, as well as work with distinguished conductors including Oksana Lyniv. She has also contributed to theatrical productions at Vienna’s prestigious Burgtheater.
Potulska’s artistry has been recognized with numerous international awards, including First Prize at the Johannes Brahms International Viola Competition and the International Viola Competition in Bled, as well as top prizes at the Lionel Tertis and Michan Spisak competitions.
Alongside her performing career, she is a dedicated educator. She has served as an assistant at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and currently teaches viola at the Friedrich Gulda School of Music in Vienna, nurturing the next generation of musicians with a strong commitment to artistic excellence and individuality.
Her performances have been broadcast on major European radio stations, including RAI, OE1, and Radio Katowice, further reflecting her presence on the international music scene.
